1 cup each: clam juice or chicken broth, tomato sauce, dry white wine or clam juice
3 large cloves garlic
1⁄8–1⁄4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
1 teaspoon each: dried oregano and thyme leaves
4 dozen clams (littlenecks or cherrystones), scrubbed
1⁄4 cup minced parsley
Salt and pepper, to taste
4 slices Italian bread, toasted

1. Combine all ingredients, except clams, parsley, salt, pepper, and bread, in crockpot; cover and cook on high 4 hours, adding clams and parsley during last 15 minutes. Discard any clams that have not opened; season soup to taste with salt and pepper. Serve broth and clams in shallow bowls with toasted bread.
